A woman and her mother have lost their lives after they allegedly drank a ‘miracle potion’ given to them by a self-proclaimed prophet.
Ms Sithanzazile Nyathi, a Zimbabwean woman, and her mother Ms Thokozani Ncube died shortly after drinking a concoction they got from a prophet named Brian Mpofu from Cowdray Park suburb, South Africa.
It is reported that the two had gone to see the prophet to find solutions to the woman’s problems among which was marriage concerns as she was not getting any suitors.
Nyathi’s aunt, Seyiso Ncube, confirmed that her niece had been in contact with the prophet since she was in South Africa.

Seyiso mentioned that they went to consult the prophet over the weekend and were accompanied by their 15-year-old nephew who narrated what happened on that day.
According to the boy, the prophet gave the three of them some substance to induce vomiting claiming that it was meant to cast out a bad spell. He then gave them a concoction consisting of bluestone, aloe vera, and lemon which they were meant to drink at home the next day before eating anything.

After Nyathi and mother drank the mixture, they started complaining about stomach cramps and the boy was instructed to bring a bucket so as to induce vomiting.
When the bucket was brought, Sithandazile was already struggling to breathe which made the boy call his uncle (her father).
We are told before my sister’s husband could attend to Sithandazile, he discovered that his wife (my sister) was not responding when he called her in her bedroom and when he went in to check on her he discovered that she had white fluids coming out through her mouth and noseSeyiso Ncube
Bulawayo Chief Inspector Precious Simango confirmed that the police did receive the case about the two’s deaths but did not disclose much information about the investigations other than the fact that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the arrests.
