World Health Organization – Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.
Senou is a young Cameroonian student in China recently infected with Coronavirus he was released from hospital this morning cured of the virus.
Doctors seeking for a cure to treat the dreadful virus were amazed to see Senou still alive and fit even after contracting the virus which has claimed 1,112 lives since it broke out in Wuhan couple of weeks ago.
The Chinese doctors confirmed that Senou stayed alive because of his blood genetic composition which is mainly found in the genetic composition of subsaharan Africans.
Chinese doctors also said that he remained alive because he has black skin, the antibodies of a black are 3 times stronger, powerful and resistant compare to that of white.
Zanomoya Mditshwa am African shared his opinion saying black man is indestructible.
“Caucasians is always at war with our black skin because they know our melanin is our defense against all that they throw at us. This proves yet again that the black man is indestructible, our bodies are made of the same substances that make up this Earth because we are owners of this universe they will never wipe us off, history has already proved that.” he said

The Government has advised Kenyans in China to consider leaving the Coronavirus hit country due to infection risk and travel restriction hardships.
On Wednesday the government stated it was prepared to evacuate Kenyan citizens from China, where the Coronavirus outbreak has claimed over 400 people.
Health administrative secretary Dr Mercy Mwangangi told lawmakers there are plans to evacuate 85 students who are stranded in China’s Wuhan city, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in constant communication with the 85 Kenyan students,” Mwangangi said.
“We have identified two holding rooms at JKIA [Kenya’s main international airport] and set up isolation facility at the Kenyatta Hospital. Additional satellite isolation facilities have been earmarked for Nairobi county,” she added.
It is not clear how long the Wuhan lockdown will last, but several countries have been evacuating their citizens from the city.
The Chinese Embassy in Kenya has issued a directive for employers who are expecting the return of workers from the holiday break.
“…all Chinese companies in Kenya to quarantine their employees returning from China for 14 days no matter they have symptoms or not," the statement read in part.
Kenya will also evacuate its students trapped in Wuhan, the Chinese epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic, President Uhuru Kenyatta has said.
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus infection.
The best way to do so is to avoid exposure to this virus.
The CDC recommends the following every day preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Stay home when you are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
Travelers to China should:
Avoid non-essential travel to Hubei, including the province’s capital, Wuhan.
Avoid contact with sick people.
Discuss travel to China with their health care provider. Older adults and travelers with underlying health issues may be at risk for more severe disease.
Avoid animals (alive or dead), animal markets, and products that come from animals (such as uncooked meat).
Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
If you traveled to China recently and feel sick with fever or a cough or have difficulty breathing, you should:
Seek medical care right away. Before you go to a doctor’s office or emergency room, call ahead and tell them about your recent travel and symptoms.
Avoid contact with others.
Do not travel while sick.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.
There is no specific antiviral treatment recommended for coronavirus infection.
People who are infected should receive supportive care to help relieve symptoms.
For severe cases, treatment should include care to support vital organ functions.
People who think they may have been exposed to the virus should contact their health care provider immediately.
Friends of photographer Abiud Wangu Maina on December 29, 2019 woke up to the shocking news that he was no more.
Abiud had hours earlier posted a message on his Facebook account and many thought he had taken his life because of depression.
However, according to a post by his friend MC Georgez, Abiud died in a tragic road accident at Allsops along Thika Super highway on the morning of December 29, 2019.
“The post-mortem shows he died from excessive bleeding and he had issues with breathing after the accident. I have known Abiud for years now, he was depressed but I’m sure he was not committing suicide,” Georgez said.
After the accident, Abiud was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
In his Facebook post, Abiud noted that 2019 had been a difficult year for him revealing that he had been battling depression but only a few people noticed and tried to help.
“Depression changes u, you may look the same but everything else is different, you act differently, move differently, you speak differently, everything about you is so different that you forget who you are,” he wrote.
He noted that some people were not good at seeking help but he encouraged them to speak out
“Some people aren’t good at asking for help because there’s so used to being the ” helper” thought their life they’ve experience an unbalanced give and take, so their instinct is usually I””LL figure it out on my own ” the -self-reliance is all they’ve ever known. Speak out this thing is devil !!”, he said.
Abiud said he was able to open up and talk about his depression in front of his workmates but still they never noticed he had a problem.
“Last week was the best week for me I was able to stand before my workmate of 11 years I was able to speak my heart but one thing I learned no one notice my tired eyes, that’s how bad depression is no one can notice depressed people acts ok,” he added.
He concluded by thanking God for the opportunity to say goodbye and advised people to pay attention to their friends’ change of behaviour.

K24 TV anchor Betty Kyallo emotionally narrated to how her four-year-old daughter Ivanna struggled with a rare auto-immune disease known as acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM)
In an emotional Facebook post on Monday, December 30, 2019, she detailed the consternation occasioned by the onset of the disease, that according to the US National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, is characterised by a brief but widespread attack of inflammation in the brain and spinal cord that damages myelin – the protective covering of nerve fibers.
''One day my beautiful four-year-old daughter stopped walking, soon stopped talking, soon stopped eating soon was so drowsy couldn’t keep her eyes open and thereafter went into a deep coma that she had to be taken to ICU and put on life support for a whole month.''
She narrated that her daughter had been at the Nairobi Hospital for over a month undergoing tests, with doctors struggling to diagnose the disease.
''We did numerous tests looking at every organ and blood but for a long time of hospitalisation in Nairobi Hospital Children's Ward, we couldn't find it. All the while she kept deteriorating every day losing one function after another. ''
Eventually, she said while acknowledging the doctors who cared for Ivanna, they were able to identify the disease and get Ivanna the assistance and treatment she needed.
''As a mother, this was my lowest time. I was crushed every day seeing my daughter wasting away and couldn't do anything. I was depressed, cried silently sometimes hoping God would see my tears. I always feared to go to the ward or ICU because I wasn't sure what function she would lose the next day or hour.''
The anchor continued to narrate that her daughter made steady progress and she thanked her friends, doctors, family members, work colleagues and her partner for being by her side.
She credited her support system for ensuring her state of anxiety visible to the publish as she never missed a single show.
''I am happier, stronger, more courageous and grateful. Ivanna is GREAT. A LITTLE QUEEN. So please instead of anyone feeling sorry for me or my family kindly make an effort to support, visit, encourage anyone you know is sick or has a sick loved one in hospital/home," she concluded.
2019 has been a year that most people in Kenya would like to forget in relation to the scourge of cancer and the number of victims it has claimed.
Cancer has been listed among the leading causes of death in the country especially due to the cost of diagnosis and treatment.
In this article, our news desk looked at some of the prominent people who succumbed to the deadly disease in the year.
1. Joyce Laboso: The late Bomet governor was destined for greatness especially after unseating one of the most vocal governors, Isaac Ruto of Chama Cha Mashinani during the 2017 General Elections.

Okoth during his second term as MP was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer and that would finally be the cause of his death which occurred on July 26, at the Nairobi Hospital.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has failed to appear before the Voi Law Court due to health complications.
Sonko was to appear before the court to face charges of resisting arrest on December 6.
The governor was ordered to appear before the court on January 21, 2020.
The governor has also been accused of 'kicking' Coast Regional Commander Rashid Yakubu on the thigh during his arrest at Ikanga strip.
In a charge sheet dated December 9, Sonko has been charged for assaulting the police officer at 12.30 pm in the due execution of his duties contrary to section 103 of the National Police Service Act 2011.

Kithi said that the governor would personally appear before the court in January as ordered.
The governor is also facing other 19 charges of corruption, abuse of office and irregular payments that saw the county lose Sh357 million in Nairobi.

A number of Nairobi County MCAs also attended the court session.
Delectable Nollywood Actress, Nse Ikpe-Etim, 44, has revealed that she had
to remove her womb to live a normal life.
The actress who stars in ‘Heaven’s Hell’ which was premiered in the cinemas on Friday, recently shared her story at an event tagged ‘Conversation with Nse.’
Nse also revealed that she was never going to be able to have a baby as she was diagnosed three years ago with Adenomyosis, a condition whereby the inner lining of the uterus breaks through the muscle wall of the uterus.
“I was told I couldn’t have kids,” she said to the now sombre audience.
“And so, I had to have a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to make me have a life again and to stop going through what I was going through. And I’m literarily telling women and men, it really doesn’t matter if you can’t bear children. What really matters is what you would do for the world, for the universe. Tears dropped and then my husband squeezed my hand. It was reassuring there was someone there and it was telling me that this is reality, my reality.”
A woman in Tennessee, U.S. was shocked to discover that she was pregnant with only nine days to the due date.
This was a pleasant shock considering that Lauren Chalk had had two prior miscarriages and was certain that she could not ever carry a pregnancy to term.
”Given the history of miscarriages that I had, I would think that I was pregnant before and I would take a pregnancy test, it would be negative and I would think subconsciously that it’s not gonna be true anyway,” Chalk said.
CNN reports that she did not realise she was pregnant earlier as she had been diagnosed with polycystic syndrome in her teenage years.
Having the syndrome meant that she had irregular menstrual cycles.
Further, the miscarriages she had in 2014 and 2016 had jaded her: she remained contemptuous of any positive pregnancy test result.
However, this time things were different: it took the keen eye of her mother to see that something was off with her daughter, prompting a doctor’s visit.
It is then that she discovered the miracle.
And on December 2, she delivered a bouncing baby boy who she named Wyatt.
”He’s the biggest gift that anyone can give me, best gift since Jesus,” she told CNN.
Brigit Chichi could never be more proud of being a nurse after a patient she once took care of offered to do her monthly shopping after running into her in a local supermarket.
Chichi was in the retailer not to buy anything as many of us do in the stores, but to window shop since she was broke as she has not received her salary for the past eight months.
Speaking to us, the lady said she currently works in a county hospital after leaving Kisumu Specialist where she had attended to the lady.
"I was just window shopping, thinking of what to buy after hopefully getting my salary soon then I heard someone shouting 'sister wa specialist! sister wa specialist!' At first I did not know she was talking to me.
"But she came to me and thanked me for taking care of her when I was a nurse at Kisumu Specialist. She looked at my small trolley which only had spaghetti and diapers and told me to put it down and get a bigger trolley," Chichi narrated.
The woman, who the nurse even forgot to ask her name, asked her to pick anything she wanted from the supermarket.
She was both confused and happy and began taking items from the shelves hesitantly, careful not to surpass her former patient's budget.
"She noticed I was picking the things timidly and asked me to pick everything at its maximum capacity without fear, and she spent KSh 15,000 on me," the nurse said.
Miracles are not just the humongous events that happened in the ancient biblical times but Chichi described her experience as a miracle since everything she was desiring while window shopping was now in her trolley ready to go home with her.
"I seriously could not believe it. Whoever said tenda wema nenda zako ( do good and just go your way) was absolutely right. Some acts of kindness just come back to you in huge proportions," she said.
And it gets better. The woman left the nurse her business card and asked her to call in the future should she want to go shopping again.
"I took care of her, I even forgot her name, which I will surely check in the hospital records, but I am glad she appreciated my work," an excited Chichi said.layer with friends

Do you already know your skin type? No? Then maybe you should first do a simple test to know what your skin type is. That way, you will be able to take care of your skin in a much better way. Every skin type has a recommended skincare routine. If your skin is oily, a dry skincare routine might not work for you. There are also rules to be followed and things to avoid for each skin type.
For example, if you have dry skin, making these mistakes might only make it worse:
1. Skipping the moisturizer
Dry-skin
Whether you have dry, normal or oily skin, nobody should skip the moisturizer. But for people with dry skin, it’s even worse. It makes your skin drier hence exposing you to bacteria because your skin is not being protected.
2. Moisturizing when it’s dry
DIY moisturizer for dry skin (Courtesy)
If you have dry skin, you should moisturize as soon as you leave the shower. Moisturizing helps in locking in the moisture so that your skin stays hydrated. To lock in maximum moisture, do not wait until your skin is completely dry. Or else, dampen your skin every time you are applying moisturizer.
3. Hot showers
Man in the shower (Courtesy)
Your skin is dry already and you are not doing it justice by taking hot showers. We get that they are soothing and relaxing, but they also strip off the natural oils on your skin.
4. Picking a random cream/lotion
Your skin may not be prone to breakouts but some products will make your dry skin drier. That said, always go for creams and lotions that are water-based and those that have been formulated for dry skin.
5. Using harsh soaps and cleansers
Harsh soaps dry the skin
If you are already struggling with dry skin, you need to choose your soaps and cleansers carefully. Very harsh soaps will dry out your skin even more. Opt for gentle cleansers that also have moisturizing properties.
6. Over-exfoliating
Over exfoliating dries the skin
There’s no debating that exfoliating is good for your skin. It removes dead cells on your skin, and it also unclogs the pores leaving you with vibrant looking skin. Even so, doing it so often especially for some with dry skin will dry your skin more.
