I want a baby daddy but with no strings attached- Akothee

Image result for Akothee
Kenyan singer Esther Akoth better known as Akothee is looking to have a sixth child.
The founder and CEO of Akothee Safaris recently took to her Instagram and opened up on her intentions of conceiving again, but with no strings attached.
The vocal singer explained that the invite was purely for the baby and she does not want to date or be committed in any way to the father.
“I will also have a baby and I don’t want a commitment with anyone, I am not ready to settle down, I am still very young, but number six is a must. We the independent women, also have choices (follow me at your own risk). I am looking for baby daddy number six; we won’t date, just a baby, period. No strings attached.”

Single mother
Akothee’s request comes a few days after she vowed never to be lured into having a child she is not ready for. The ‘president of single mothers’ as she prides herself preached to fellow single mothers, encouraging them to stay strong for their sake and their children.
“The pain of being left with a child is all the same. Whether you are living in Karen, Lavington or Kibera! The sleepless nights, the pain of rejection, betrayal, stigma and society. The fear of the unknown (where will I start from? People will laugh at me) my dear, you are thinking too much.
Akothee.
“Those people whom you think will laugh at you have more problems than yours. You have already identified your problem and it's out, embrace it. It’s no longer a problem, it's a challenge,” she said.
Akothee’s stand is as a result of the hardship she has had to undergo after being rejected by her children’s baby daddies.

In a separate post, the Lotto crooner opened up on a painful experience where one of her baby daddies left her to fend for herself in a foreign country while pregnant.
“He told me he is 50- years-old and not in a position of falling in love with any woman. I was 9 months pregnant in Switzerland with an illegal visa from Holland. I was afraid that if I gave birth in Kenya, he will disown us.
“I was wrong. He still disowned us even in his country, so he asked me to come back to Kenya and if I insisted on giving birth in Switzerland, the hospital bill would be forwarded to the person who invited me to Europe and not him,” she narrated.

Kenya's youngest Reverend praises Reverend Lucy Natasha for maintaining her virginity, curses girls who lose virginity before marriage

Reverend Victor Githu, a young preacher who is interested in ministering the word of God in Kenya has now through the will of God administered a curse to girls who lose their virginity before marriage.

He has viciously stated that such girls will never know peace for disrespecting their true ribs by fornicating with busybodies. “It is the will of God for a woman to preserve her virginity for her husband. Any woman who cannot adhere to what has been written brings curses to the generation of an innocent man, and the soul of such a woman belongs to the devil” he stated.

According to the 10-year-old ‘Nabi’, women who sleep with countless men before they meet their perfect match will be thrown at the hottest end in hell.

He has urged young girls in the country who are yet to sell their souls to the devil through the sexual sin to emulate Reverend Lucy Natasha, a celebrity preacher who has been able to protect her dignity for ages.

“It is absurd that at 18 we no longer have virgins. Where are we heading as a country if not at the bottom of hell? There is nothing good in having sex with a man who will not be your husband. It is a disgrace and I will not shy from telling the crumbling generation what the most high has ordained me to do” Reverend Githu quipped.

The youngest preacher who has been a subject of ridicule by women in the country has earned himself thousands of male followers in the recent past because of his teachings on submissiveness and forgiveness.

Reverend Githu’s latest remarks on single mothers ignited a public debate online. Women in the country criticized the 10-year-old for disrespecting single mothers and urged the media to stop giving him publicity.

The Reverend once confessed to having attempted to take his life at the age of five, when his mother tried to curtail his blossoming career.

“I told myself, ‘you lady if you do not want me to preach, it is better I commit suicide’. But as I was trying to tie the rope, I remembered I needed to say goodbye to my brother. My brother could not let me die and he immediately ran to inform my mum,” he once narrated.

His mother who was also present during the live gospel show explained what finally brought her around to supporting her son’s passion for preaching.

“He told me that he can preach but I just didn’t believe him. I didn’t even know that he knew English,” she recounted

“So I took him to the market and then went and hid at one of the stalls just to see what he would do. To my surprise, he went ahead and gave a powerful sermon on obeying God with all that you have. I realised there and then that this was his calling,” she further disclosed.

On his part, Githu opened up on the various challenges he constantly faces due to his relatively young age.

“People used to say that I’m crazy when I started preaching, but I tell them one thing, you’d better have craziness that can take you far than the wisdom that will take you nowhere,” he said.

Quizzed on whether he misses being a child and getting involved in games with his agemates, he simply said ‘no’ and added that he prefered engaging in activities such as biking and swimming.

He has been a huge hit on various social media platforms, with his very first video going viral on twitter. Currently, videos of his lively sermons, prayers and interviews garner an average of 100,000 views on YouTube, a remarkable fete for someone so young.

Githu is already being mentioned as one of the evangelists to watch, with his profile on a trajectory that has seen him mentioned among household televangelists such as Pastor Maina Ng’ang’a of Neno evangelism.

His mother gave a candid confession on the struggle she faces due to her son’s ever-growing profile.

“There have been many challenges especially from neighbours and friends who always go around saying I’m just making money out of my son’s prominence,” she revealed.

She went on to make it clear that it was actually Evangelist Lucy Wa Ngunjiri -Founder of Prayers Beyond Boundaries Ministries, and Gospel presenter in Itaha Ria Muoyo on Kameme FM, who had volunteered to cater for her son’s every need including the clothes he wears.

“I thank God for the favour,” she reiterated.

Gladys Boss Shollei Finally Divorces Former Standard Group MD Sam Shollei

Uasin Gishu County Women Representative and former Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Gladys Boss Shollei has finally divorced former Standard Group Managing Director Sam Shollei.

In a ruling delivered early last week in Nairobi, MP Gladys Shollei has been given a favourable ruling allowing her to keep the urban home in Kitisuru Estate Nairobi and the matrimonial farm in Uasin Gishu.

The ruling is said to have been a big relief to the MP who previously obtained orders barring her husband Sam Shollei from her matrimonial home after he eloped with a junior employee at Standard Group, Faith Rono.

Faith Rono worked as a reporter for the Standard before promotion by her then clandestine lover, Sam Shollei, to be the Corporate Communications Manager. Sam Shollei moved into Faith’s house in Langata after he was barred from the Ksh 700 million palatial home in Kitusuru.

Friends of Faith Rono and Sam Shollei have indicated that the couple recently had a traditional marriage ceremony which was witnessed by their family and friends in Uasin Gishu.

In the divorce suit lodged in 2016, Gladys Shollei accused Sam Shollei of abandoning the family, refusing to provide for it, denial of conjugal rights and being abusive.

The couple has managed to keep their marriage woes under wraps with few even knowing that they were going through divorce.

The affair between Sam Shollei and faith Rono was an open secret at Standard Group as the former CEO was also known to eye 2 other girls. Sam Shollei finally settled on the junior staff member who is almost 30 years his junior. Peers of the former CEO have indicated that Sam Shollei might be going through a serious mid-life crisis.

After the separation between Gladys and Sam, Faith Rono also broke-up with Sam as she had previously thought that it’s Gladys who was going to move out of the Kitusuru home. The two later came back together and are now living as husband and wife.

Gladys Shollei has reportedly been given full custody of the couple’s children and she indicated in her suit papers that she doesn’t need any maintenance from her previous husband.

Sam Shollei currently works for disgraced businessman Kamlesh Pattni as a consultant.

Gladys Shollei was controversially pushed out of the powerful Judicial Service Commission on allegations of corruption. She was elected as a Women Representative in Uasin Gishu County in 2017.

The secret to your success is who you marry, new study shows

There are numerous stories where a successful person has attributed much of their success to their spouse or partner. We’ve often heard the saying “Behind every successful man there is a woman,” and vice versa. Research shows that the phrase is not just an empty one but there is a lot of truth to it – your success could depend on your spouse.

The study published at Carnegie Mellon University shows that if you have a supportive spouse there are greater chances of you succeeding in life. The study which involved 163 married couples had a rather interesting activity to find out if their theory held any water. As part of the study, partners were given a choice of either completing a simple puzzle or opting to compete for a prize. The partner's interactions with each other were observed by researchers.

What the researchers noticed was that couples who were more supportive of each other were more likely to opt for the competition. Those who opted for the simpler puzzle weren’t very interactive or supportive of each other.

Researchers followed up with the same couples six months later and discovered that the ones who had opted for the challenge were more content in their relationships than the ones who had attempted the simpler activity.

Professor of Psychology at Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Science, Brooke Feeney says “
Many power couples have openly acknowledged the role that their spouses have played in helping them reach the heights that they have. Barrack Obama spoke about ‘his rock’ Michelle Obama on the Oprah Winfrey show in 2011 and how she kept him balanced.
“Obviously I couldn’t have done anything that I’ve done without Michelle.” Obama told Oprah and the world.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook too spoke about the positive influence his wife Priscilla has had on his life when he delivered the commencement speech at Harvard in 2017. He said that she was the inspiration behind the social work that he does.

In 2013, in an interview with Oprah, Beyonce too acknowledged her husband, rapper Jay-Z's support “on so many levels.” She said that she wouldn’t be the woman that she is if he wasn’t in her life.

The study confirms what is a universal truth. If a partner or spouse lacks enthusiasm or is unhappy about the other’s growing success, the marriage will either end quickly or to save the marriage, the spouse will step back from opportunities on the work front and cut back on their chances of success. On the other hand, if the spouse encourages their partner to seek out new opportunities and is ready to give them the desired push when needed, success is bound to follow.

“Significant others can help you thrive through embracing life opportunities or they can hinder your ability to thrive.” author of the study, Feeney explains.

Photographer dies ‘in road accident’ after posting goodbye message on FB

Abiud Wangu Maina

Friends of photographer Abiud Wangu Maina on December 29, 2019 woke up to the shocking news that he was no more.

Abiud had hours earlier posted a message on his Facebook account and many thought he had taken his life because of depression.

However, according to a post by his friend MC Georgez, Abiud died in a tragic road accident at Allsops along Thika Super highway on the morning of December 29, 2019.

“The post-mortem shows he died from excessive bleeding and he had issues with breathing after the accident. I have known Abiud for years now, he was depressed but I’m sure he was not committing suicide,” Georgez said.

After the accident, Abiud was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

In his Facebook post, Abiud noted that 2019 had been a difficult year for him revealing that he had been battling depression but only a few people noticed and tried to help.

“Depression changes u, you may look the same but everything else is different, you act differently, move differently, you speak differently, everything about you is so different that you forget who you are,” he wrote.

He noted that some people were not good at seeking help but he encouraged them to speak out

“Some people aren’t good at asking for help because there’s so used to being the ” helper” thought their life they’ve experience an unbalanced give and take, so their instinct is usually I””LL figure it out on my own ” the -self-reliance is all they’ve ever known. Speak out this thing is devil !!”, he said.

Abiud said he was able to open up and talk about his depression in front of his workmates but still they never noticed he had a problem.

“Last week was the best week for me I was able to stand before my workmate of 11 years I was able to speak my heart but one thing I learned no one notice my tired eyes, that’s how bad depression is no one can notice depressed people acts ok,” he added.

He concluded by thanking God for the opportunity to say goodbye and advised people to pay attention to their friends’ change of behaviour.

Friends reached out on his posts but hours later messages of condolences started trickling in on the same post..
Abuid will be buried this Saturday at Mukurwe-ini, Nyeri County.

I was sexually assaulted -Huddah says of the man who took her virginity

Huddah Monroe or Alhuddah Njoroge as her mother named her has taken a break from trolloping in Dubai where she is living it up in the lap of luxury, staying at one of the most expensive hotels in the world, to tell the world that she was in essence raped.
That is how, according to Huddah, she lost her virginity. And while this has elicited alot of mixed reactions from netizens, many of whom are quick to call up her not so innocent present and the way she got her come up as if it negates the fact that she believes she was sexually exploited.

And she is dead serious by the way:

‘I don’t miss the anxiety of constantly wondering if baby is okay,’ Kambua

Kambua received the biggest blessing in her life this year, her baby boy.
It was public knowledge that she had been struggling to get a baby and when the miracle happened, she kept it under wraps for a while before announcing to the world and that is understandable.

She had been through a lot of emotional trauma she just wanted to savour the moment.
Kambua took to social media a list of the things she misses when she was pregnant.
“1. I miss being able to eat food without people judging my portions 😂
2. I miss being offered a seat wherever I went or ushered to the front of the line
3. I miss my husband rubbing my feet
4. I miss not having to suck in my tummy when taking pictures 😅
5. I really miss my baby’s kicks 🥰” Kambua listed
In as much as there were great moments during her pregnancy, she also had the bad days she does not want to remember.
Days that were full of morning sickness and worry.

1. I DON’T miss being hungry all the time
2. I don’t miss being very sleepy all day
3. I don’t miss having to sleep with so many pillows!
4. I don’t miss turning around like a truck in my sleep
5. I don’t miss all day sickness in my first tri.
6. I don’t miss the anxiety of constantly wondering if baby is ok
Kambua shared her list so that she can interact with her fellow first-time mothers. A project she is so passionate about because she wants to help those who suffered through the same thing she went through.
She openly says she would not want anyone to go through it alone.
2019 has seen many mothers experience the miracle of God’s when it comes to children.
Other than Kambua, Size 8 is also another female celebrity who went through a lot during her pregnancy but she is grateful to God for the blessing in her arms.

Every time my daughter’s father beat me, I stayed because I was in love - Female police officer opens up on being in an abusive relationship(Video)

Emma Brenda Wanjiru, a cop and a mom

She is elegant, all smiles and seems to have it all together. She is a dedicated and hardworking police officer who swears that at no cost would she ever change her job because she loves serving her country.

Despite Brenda Wanjiru’s infectious smile, behind lies an untold tale of mistakes, shame, surviving an abusive relationship and eventually walking out of it.

Brenda at Pulselive offices during the interview

At the age of 17, Brenda became a mom and like many teenagers, it was hard for the mom of one without a job nor papers, she settled with her daughter’s father in a relationship that later turned out to be an abusive one.

I didn’t have papers

“He was my first love and I thought he was the person I would end up with and everything would be fine but that was not the case. Before having my daughter, he didn’t show signs of being an abusive partner. When I had my daughter, he started abusing me physically, emotionally and even psychologically,” she says.

Being young and not knowing much, She chose to stay in the relationship with the hope that a better day would come. After all, didn’t our parents raise us teaching us that a woman is supposed to persevere and fight for her marriage?

Emma Brenda Wanjiru at work - she went through an abusive relationship with her daughter's father

“He would go out, come back very late and when I would ask him about it, he would beat me up and call me names. He would tell me that I was nothing, I would never get married if I left him, I would never be successful, and that I would just go and come back. He actually got to my head and every time he would beat me, I stayed and thought he was right because he was a bit older than I was. "

“I thought, ‘he must be right. Where was I going? I am a teenager, no papers, no job, no nothing.’ He was so sure that I would not go back home because I loved him so much. So, every time he would beat me, I would stay,” the police officer tells this journalist.

Surviving an abusive relationship - Brenda Wanjiru

Time would later come for Brenda when she decided that enough was enough. The fear of this man killing her and the dreams she had to go back to school and join the service was what pushed her to finally leave this man and start a new life.

“One time he beat me so bad and actually chewed my sim card. This is when I realized that I had given him so much power. I was ashamed of putting myself in that situation and I had to do what was best for my daughter and I. I packed and I had to report it to the police station because he wouldn’t let me go,” Brenda tells this writer.

Despite all she had been through, Brenda did not allow her experience to stop her from pursuing her passion. Having grown up in a family where both her parents were in the police service, she wanted to join the industry too and change how people looked at police.

She has now been in service for five years, and although she admits that it’s not easy, she is grateful that she gets to live her dream of serving. There are times when she is sent away for assignments and being a single mom, her mom is forced to step in and look after her granddaughter.

Having learnt from her own mistakes, Brenda has a message for young girls and other single moms.

“This is how I look at it, I am not a victim and I thank God that he entrusted me with life. Why would I be ashamed of that? It was just a bad situation, a bad relationship, a mistake and I learned from it. It was not the right time, truth be told. I can never be ashamed of being a single mother or let anyone put me in that situation. It’s fulfilling being a mother, but do the right thing at the right time," she advises.

Every time he beat me, I stayed - I loved him so much (Brenda Wanjiru)

Brenda goes on, “There’s hope because I have done it and there are so many other women who have done it. You don’t have to sit and have a pity party for yourself. Pick up the pieces, dust it off, hold your head high and keep it moving. Keep working and be proud of yourself because you are doing the best you can and let nobody put you down.”

Study finds that women love men who cheat on them more than the faithful ones

A new study concludes that a lot of women have a mental condition that does not allow them to fall out of love with a cheater.

If you are a cheater rest assured that you hold the keys to the relationship because you women are not going to stop loving you. Researchers believe that a few cases where women broke up with their male spouse for cheating on them were because of overwhelming pressure from family and friends. Deep down the lady would always love someone who cheated on them.

The reasons for this behavior are not very clear but some women who were interviewed say it is because being with someone who is still desired by others turns them on and reminds them of when he approached them. “If he’s able to cheat on me with men women it means he still got game, as long as he satisfies all my needs cheating on me turns me on”. – Jessica.

“I only break up with a cheating man only if people close to me know that he is cheating on me or he is cheating with people that I know otherwise it’s cool”

Head researcher Dick Long says this behavior is engraved in women’s DNA and there is nothing we could do to change it. “I’ll advise men to cheat with women who might never cross pass with their partner but it’s ok to leave your phone unlocked with pictures and texts of your infidelities now and then just to make her fall in love with you over again.”

Eric Omondi Denies Breaking Up Chantal, Says She Will Be Home For Christmas (Video)

Award wining comedian and event organizer Eric Omondi has refuted claims that he broke up with fiancee Chantal Grazioli.

According to the comedian , the break up with his fiancee on the internet was stage managed and not what people presumed it to be.

Omondi has insisted that the two did not break up and neither did they separate. He has said that they were just in different countries hence could not be together as often as they wanted, but they are still together.

In an interview with Rembo Tv, when asked about his fiancee and what happened in their relationship, Omondi said that they were very much together and the lass was coming over to Kenya in December for the Christmas holidays.

“Chantal and I never broke up and neither did we separate. If you read what I wrote and what she wrote, she was going to school had to handle other life things. We are not even on a break and she is coming over to Kenya for Christmas,” said Eric Omondi.

Omondi went on and talked about his favorite things to do, stating that he was the best comedian in Africa not because he was the funniest person but rather because he is the most hardworking and has put in a lot of effort to build his brand over the years.

“I am not the funniest person in Africa, I am the best comedian and there is difference. This means that I have put in the work. There are other comedians that are very funny but are not doing enough in terms of hard work,” said Omondi in reference to his winning the best African Comedian title at the  African Entertainment Awards USA (AEAUSA) held in New Jersey.

Omondi and Chantal were dubbed ‘couple goals’ due to their theatrics and staged stunts to appreciate and show romance to each other publicly.

Their alleged break up posted on the social media pages on 22nd May 209 ignited mixed reactions as the duo was dubbed as perfect and termed ‘couple goals’.

Omondi stated that he had separated with the Italian girlfriend, although insisting that they were still good friends.

Chantal responded and affirmed the separation, a move that threw the internet into a frenzy, with Kenyans asking for Omondi’s forgiveness on his behalf just so that the two can be back together.

A few months later, pictures of Omondi and TV girl vacationing together with their son raised more eyebrows, with Omondi insisting that they were just co-parenting.

With the new move, Omondi has proved that the break up was staged despite taking an emotional toll on majority of internet fans, commonly known as ‘Instagram in-laws’ who had invested  a lot into the relationship.

How to get away with bedroom bullying

A woman exclaims

“You must have many questions,” the doctor says.

Actually, I’m wondering why they don’t have questions. Like, why did you try and bite that man’s penis off? Also, why hasn’t anyone called the cops? Or are they outside? I want to ask but the nurse mentioned that I may have oro-whatever, so I’m going to keep my mouth shut until I learn more.

“You have a condition that is very challenging to live with. How long have you had it?” asks the doctor.

I shrug and start on the second glass of whatever to avoid having to speak.

“When was the last time this happened? The spasms?” he asks.

I have no idea what he’s talking about. I touch my head. The bandages. Head injury. I need to fake amnesia until I know what oro-whatever is.

“I really can’t remember,” I say, wincing in pain.

“Yes, I understand,” the doctor responds. “You have been through quite an ordeal. Rest for now, we’ll talk more later.”

He scribbles something on my chart and hangs it at the base of the hospital bed. “We may need to up your dosage on the pain meds. Let’s observe for the next two hours,” he says to me.

The nurse takes the now empty glass and they both leave. I hate hospitals. I hate the silly gowns that show your backside to the world. I hate the food. I hate the antiseptic smell. But most of all, I hate the medical charts they hang for everyone who walks in to know everything that’s wrong with you, with a quick glance.

But today, I love hospitals and their awesome charts. I give it a few minutes and then I slip out of bed. I open the chart. Oromandibular dystonia is what they think I have. I remove the pen from the side of the chart and cut off a piece of paper. I quickly write down the mystery disease and put back the chart where I found it. I crawl back into bed and ring for the nurse.

“Did they bring my things in when I got here?” I ask.

“You had some papers stuffed in your clothing,” she responds.

Good, the contracts are safe. Thank you to the heavens.

“The paramedics also found two phones on the scene, a wallet and a handbag,” she continues. “I’ll bring them to you now and you can identify yours.”

She returns a little later. She hands me the contracts. One of the phones is mine, the other belongs to Chris. The wallet is his. I take my handbag and phone, informing her the rest are his.

“Who consented to his surgery?” I ask.

“He did,” she answers.

“Did he say anything?” I ask.

“Just that you bit off his penis during fellatio,” the nurse answers with no judgment whatsoever on her face. “You don’t remember?”

I furrow my brow.

“As the doctor says, you need to rest. All this will come back to you,” she says.

She leaves and I quickly grab my phone. I head straight to a search engine and type in the name on the scrape of paper.

Mmm. Found it. Oromandibular dystonia occurs when the muscles that move the mouth and jaw are affected by involuntary spasms. Oh my word. They think it was an accident. They think I bit off his trumpet because of an involuntary spasm. They actually believe that through no fault of my own, my jaw clamped down on his member. I start laughing. I laugh so hard that my head starts hurting. I have taken blows to my head; I need to get a grip.

Oh, blimey. I might just get away with this.

What women wear that men dislike and don’t tell

fASHIONSKETCHoflupitanyongooutfits

When you want to please your man, your appearance matters a lot. There are some pieces of clothing that women wear that men dislike but they never tell. They include;
Hair extension and weaves. Most of these men prefer seeing their ladies in natural hair. How mortifying would it be if for instance your busy with your man then the wig falls off exposing matutua’s? Embarassing! What’s worse is if your weave or wig isn’t customized and there’s nothing as bad as an ill fitting tress.
When with your man try as much as possible to wear natural hair styles that suit your appearance.
UGG boots. These are the type of boots that ladies like especially in cold seasons. They are made from skin sheep with fleece attached to it which men say is animal cruelty. They prefer other decent boots to this.

Excessive makeup. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder they say. Most men prefer natural appearances. Some ladies apply too much makeup yet less is more.

The 80 s outfits. This includes baggy long dresses and faded baggy jeans, that are making a comeback currently. This to men hides ones curves yet dudes want to adore.
Fake contacts. Many women are now spotting cosmetic contact lenses. While not bad, men find it weird to hang out with someone with blue, grey or yellow eyes.
They expect to see the real beauty of ones eyes.

Leggings. Unless you are slim, this outfit is not good for you according to men. If it is necessary for this, then one should wear long tops or shirts to avoid looking like a person going for some workout.
Painted eyebrows. Ladies tend to shave natural eyebrows completely then draw on, leaving them with surprised expressions.
The painted on eyebrows leave a funny look which men describe as a cartoon look. Some are even not balanced because you find one is higher than the other.

Fake eye lashes. It will be really embarrassing that you are talking with someone whose lashes are about to fall. Oops.
Excess perfumes. It is nice to have a nice scent but don’t over do it. What happens when the man is asthmatic? You don’t want to be blamed for his health complication.

‘The memories kill me’ Late Joyce Laboso’s husband in tell all interview

Joyce Laboso addesssing

His caught the country by surprise when he announced at Nairobi Hospital on July 29 the death of his wife, Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso.
It was only hours after doctors had switched off life support machines on Laboso but Edwin Abonyo hardly betrayed any emotion.
The man who had spent decades working behind the scenes would during the period before his wife’s burial to worm his way into the hearts of many by his dignity in loss.

Laboso succumbed to cancer after along treatment both in Nairobi, the United Kingdom and India.
Exactly three months on today, the father of Ted, Brian, Marco and Mina told the Star in an exclusive interview that he has been living in hell since his wife’s demise.
Abonyo said his family is still struggling to come to terms with the loss.
Describing a difficult phase of his life strength and humour, Abonyo told the Star that though he appear the strongest when the grief was fresh, he was the most affected of his family.

Abonyo said watching his wife endure the pain and see life slowly ebb away from her body sapped strength out of him, leaving a gaping hole in his heart.
“I have cried a lot in private. Whenever I step in our house, our room, in particular, the emotions come fresh. I remember everything and the memories kill me,” Abonyo said.
At some point, his eldest son Brian and his foster daughter walked in to join the conversation with the Star.
“June and July were the hardest as her situation got worse. Organ failures, swelling of the leg, her inability to walk and being bedridden went in quick succession,” Brian said.

Even more excruciating, he said, was watching her choke in pain with intravenous tubes all over her as the aggressive tumour grew, undeterred by the rigorous chemo and radiotherapies.
Even more gut-wrenching, Abonyo added, was the fact that he knew his wife had a slim chance of making it “as science records very few treatment success rates for second-time relapse of cancer.”
“In fact, at some point, I told the doctors not to actively resuscitate her as the pain became overbearing and her chances were growing negligible. I did the same for my mother, mother in law,” he added.
Abonyo said that he has not re-arranged the house and even the wardrobes in his city, Sotik and Fort Ternan homes.
In fact, there is still a picture of the former governor, a condolence book and four reddish candles sitting on a small table at the entrance corridor leading to his living room, depicting a mourning mood in the Kilimani, Nairobi home.
Even at Fort Ternan home, they put fresh flowers every time they travel back, which is every weekend, he said.

Abonyo said when Laboso’s cancer recurred, he was a fearful man, knowing that her survival chances were rapidly dwindling.
“When my wife first got diagnosed in the early 90s at Nairobi Hospital, I stopped all I was doing and drove to Nyalenda in Kisumu where my parents were living to cry at their feet,” he said.  “I told them Joyce was dying.”
Though Laboso survived this, he relived the experience when Laboso gave him a call from the US that she had been rediagnosed with it, only that this time, he did not run to cry to his parents.
Abonyo and his son Brian Ochieng’ said Laboso’s relapse was detected at MD Anderson Cancer Centre in the US when she went there on an official trip, sourcing for medical equipment and areas of partnership for her Bomet administration.
“She then just decided to take advantage of the trip to the facility to check herself. She was not feeling any pain at the time but I had observed she would complain of being tied frequently while here,” Abonyo said.
“When I got that call, I was devastated. I told her to wind up her trip and travel home so we start treatment,” he said.
As his wife received care from medics, he would feel a part of him was waste away.
“I had been away for 15 years and I thought coming back would allow me to be with mum and the family for a good time. This was not to be. It’s been a tearful period,” Brian said.
After the burial, Brian said, he remained at their For Ternan home for two weeks after everybody had returned to the city, an experience which left him lonely, only accompanied his mother’s grave.
“Every time I would see the grave, I would be broken. But we have tried to smart out of it because we are not the first to be bereaved,” he said.
For Mina, entering her parent’s room and seeing the belongings of the former governor brings back the pain afresh.
“It has been a traumatic experience. All of us lost weight and I, in fact, got white hair,” Mina, who served the governor as her private secretary in all her public life, said.
Sh2 million bill
Abonyo said while he tried to clear all the hospital bills with the help of the state and friends, it is not yet done.
He said with his son Brian, they were recently surprised to receive communication from the London hospital demanding Sh2 million arrears.
“Together with my son, we cleared with the hospital, so we were surprised to have the bill,” he said.
“I however told them that we actually lost the patient, and since then they went silent. So we don’t know whether they will pursue it or let it slide,” added.
Expressing his profuse gratitude to friends who helped, Abonyo said, however, that not all the platitudes at his wife’s funeral were truthful.
“Politicians are notorious liars. In fact, when we heard what they would say, we sometimes just retreated with Brian to laugh,” he said.
“But [President] Uhuru is a good man,” he added.
“The state must be well appreciated. It afforded us much help. Joyce also had numerous friends who were loyal, genuine and true,” he added.
Among the friends he mentioned were Nairobi speaker Beatrice Elachi who, he said, visited them in London and spent nights with the governor at Nairobi Hospital.
CAS Rachel Shebesh, governors Anne Waiguru and Charity Ngilu, he said, also proved genuine friends.
