There was drama at Eldoret Police Station when two members of parliament stormed the station demanding the release of a murder suspect.
The legislators from West Pokot County wanted to secure the release of a suspect who was arrested in connection with a recent killing along the boundary of West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties.
Sigor MP Peter Lochakapong and his Pokot South counterpart David Pkosing accosted the Uasin Gishu County Commander Augustine Thumbi on Tuesday over the arrest of a suspect who was taking care of his brother at the Moi Teaching and |Referral Hospital.
Jackson Kibet’s brother sustained injuries in a banditry attack at Chepkog village.
The attack left three people dead and scores of others injured.
The legislators claimed the arrest would spark retaliatory attacks.
“We are asking the Inspector General to release this boy unconditionally so that there is peace in the area,” Pkosing remarked.
“The arrest is going to bring a lot of tension between the communities and the current situation will deteriorate,” Sigor MP Lochakapong mentioned.
They also alleged that there was a scheme to kill the man who was nursing injuries at the hospital.
Thumbi refuted their claims and urged them to stop interfering with police work.
