A man will be arraigned in court on Thursday after he murdered his 5-year-old stepson.
According to reports, Paul Njoroge, 28, killed the 5-year-old while he was sleeping after the boy's mother rejected his marriage proposal.
Njoroge is said to have slashed the boy twice with a panga on the head as he slept with his cousins.
The court had given the investigating officers eight days to compile evidence and the suspect to undergo a mental evaluation to determine whether he is fit to stand trial.
There has been a rise in homicide cases with partners killing their spouses or turning their anger to children.
A compilation of the latest deaths paints a worrying trend of a disgruntled lot, impatient in resolving even the most trivial of disagreements.
Tens of such deaths have been recorded across the country, and even before sleuths can resolve one, another happens.
