A survivor who escaped death at the Dusit Complex attack has disclosed the last words he heard from the suicide bomber who blew himself up outside Secret garden hotel.
Abdullahi Ugello, who was the head of construction and repairs at Dusit hotel, is seen in CCTV footage passing close to where the suicide bomber is standing minutes before he blew himself up.
According to Ugello, the bomber was on phone talking to his counterparts whom they had attacked the Dusit Complex with.
Ugello mentioned that he heard the suicide bomber ask his fellow terrorist where they were, before detonating the bomb.
“It was a close shave to me kabisa. Simu ilikuwa kwa mkono wa kulia akizungumza. Wakati nilifika hapo ndio kuna maneno niliskia akisema “Kwani mko wapi, Kwani Mko wapi Bana” aliuliza kama mara mbili. Huku mkono wake wa kushoto unapapaza kifua chake ivo. Kuskia hivyo nikamwangalia kwa nyuma kidogo.
"Nikaendelea kutembea nikaingia restaurant kusalimia jamaa zangu hapo, kidogo nikaskia mlipuko mkubwa, na moshi kubwa nyeusi, mlio wa risasi ukaanza sasa. Hapo nikajua nikubaya, tukatoka mbio. Kurudi nje ndo nikaona mwili wa mtu umekatika katika. Kila mtu ananipigia simu namwambia tu nashukuru mungu niko sawa,” says Abdullahi Ugello in an Interview with K24.
Luckily, Ugello who is the Father of four escaped from the heinous attack unhurt.
Tracey Wanjiru
Another, survivor in the Dusit attack Tracey Wanjiru, remembers seeing two of the attackers who visited her salon demanding for a haircut before they changed their mind and opted for hair colour.
“They were bossy and could not follow instructions. But then I thought the customer is always right. They were on an intense conversation on their phones, but it did not ring a bell that they were counting minutes to the slaughter of innocent people. The two late changed their mind about getting a haircut and asked for hair colour, " said Wanjiru.
She added that after the service they placed money on the counter and walked out without saying a word.
On Thursday, the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet confirmed that the death toll from the attack had risen to 21 people.
