Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has indicated TV news anchor Jacque Maribe's fiancee Joseph Irungu alias Jowie the key suspect in the killing of Monica Kimani will be arraigned in court with first degree murder charges.
The detectives at the country's elite investigative agencies said they had enough evidence to convict Jowie with intentional, willful, premeditated and and malicious killing of the 29-year-old on Thursday, September 20, at her Kilimani residence.
Detectives in the matter who sought anonymity told Saturday Nation Jowie would be prosecuted with charge which carries a life imprisonment or death sentence basing on positive DNA test results, and fingerprints which placed him at the scene of crime.
"The evidence is conclusive and places him at the scene of crime. Partially burnt clothes recovered from her fiancees residence will be key evidence too. He will also be accountable for charges not exclusive of bearing false witness for reporting he was shot by unknown people yet he did himself," a detective confided.
The sleuths added that Maribe's neighbour Brian Kasaine whose gun was used to inflict a bullet wound on Jowie would also be substantively charged with the murder of Kimani.
According to the detective, they had a concrete case against Kasaine as far as the murder of Kimani was concerned and would take his samples for a DNA test on Sunday, October 7 or Monday, October 8 for analysis to establish if he was at the scene.
We understands the Central Firearms Bureau concluded Kasaine was illegally possessing the pistol after he failed to renew gun holding license in 2016 when it expired.
"Maribe's samples have also been taken today, Saturday, October 6 for DNA tests to analyse if she was also at the crime scene.She could be liable for giving false accounts of fiancee's shooting incident and concealing the criminal happenings," a detective said. Jowie who was arrested on Tuesday, September 25, taken to court and sent back to police custody ahead of the mention of the matter on Monday, October 8.
