A boy in Kakamega East Sub-County has sustained serious injuries after his mother allegedly slashed him with a machete accusing him of stealing an egg.
The incident saw the mother slashing her son with a machete over an egg she claims he stole which is valued at Ksh 15.
The eleven-year-old boy sustained deep cuts to his wrist and fingers before neighbours came to save him from the harsh ordeal. They were shocked to find the boy bleeding profusely after getting the cuts on his body.
According to Kakamega County Criminal Investigations officer Peter Kimulwo, the mother has been arrested and is set to be arraigned in a court of law.
She was arrested by Mukangu Village elder Mr Jotham Sumba. He also rushed the injured boy to Mukhonje Dispensary for treatment. The mother was taken to Kambiri Police Station.
The father of the boy, who works in a different town, was informed about the incident and is expected to return back home by tomorrow.
