Sarah Wairimu, the widow of slain Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen on Wednesday asked the court to allow her to manage the deceased’s company, Tobs Kenya Gold Safaris.
Wairimu, who was charged with the murder Cohen, told High Court Justice Stella Mutuku that she co-owned the company with her husband and fears it will collapse if she is not granted permission to run it.
She further sought to have the court order police to release her dogs to her, saying authorities seized the pets without any reasonable justification. Wairimu, 53, also wants police officers ordered to vacate Cohen’s Kitisuru home, accusing them of “taking over” her property thus giving undue advantage to her husband’s siblings in the battle for control of his estate.
But the prosecution opposed Wairimu’s application to have police expelled from the Kitisuru home, arguing that the house is a primary crime scene and that Wairimu should not be allowed to access it as that would compromise the case. The State also opposed Wairimu’s application to have her vehicle given back to her.
Cohen, who had lived in Kenya for 32 years, went missing on July 19th this year before he was found dead on September 13th. His decomposed body was retrieved from an underground water tank at his home in Kitisuru estate and was buried at the Jewish Cemetery in Nairobi on September 24th.
A postmortem examination revealed that the deceased suffered a severe head trauma inflicted by a blunt object and succumbed to a blow to the right side of the head.
