According to city lawyer Donald Kipkorir, Joseph Irungu alias Jowie could be Kenya’s dumbest murderer
The flamboyant took to social media saying that if Irungu planned and carried out Monica Kimani’s murder, then his IQ would be similar to that of a Standard Five pupil.
“If Jowie planned and carried out the murder of Monica Kimani, then his IQ is Standard 5 (sic) ... He drove to Monica’s apartment using Jacque Maribe car, used ID stolen from Maribe’s gate, uses Maribe’s knife and a gun of their mutual friend ... He is the most foolish murderer in Kenya,” he tweeted.
Jowie is the prime suspect in the murder of a 29-year-old business lady who was found in her bathtub with hands bound and her throat slit.
Speaking to NTV’s Dennis Okari, Jowie’s parents claimed that the police narrative of what happened in the run-up to Monica's death and afterwards may not be accurate after all.
The parents believe that their son is not capable of doing what he is being charged with.
“I have raised him in church. So, I cannot believe all this. It is like a bad dream. I still cannot believe it,” his mother said.
Jowie was arrested with a gunshot wound with police claiming that it was self-inflicted in a suicide attempt.
“According to where the gunshot wound is, if someone wants to kill themselves, and especially someone who has been taught how to handle a firearm, the shoulder is not a place to shoot to kill. If you want to commit suicide as someone who has been trained in the forces, there are many places in the body you would aim at to kill yourself quickly,” his father said.
Jowie is expected in court tomorrow to take a plea.
