Wiper Democratic Movement Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Wednesday, December 11, took to Twitter to refute claims that he was 'working with Deputy President William Ruto'.
The former vice president labeled allegations of him 'working with Ruto' as an ill motive by his rivals to drive a wedge between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"In the light of recent conversations and speculations about working with the DP, please note that these speculations are malicious," Kalonzo stated.
"They are a desperate attempt to drive a wedge between me and HE the President and have failed," he added.
Interestingly, his remarks implied that what was described as 'working with the deputy president' was going against President Uhuru Kenyatta, something that Kenyans on Twitter were quick to note.
"You mean, work with Ruto is working against the Presidency? He is the deputy at least last time I checked," Morris Kiruga Ikonya wondered.
"Wait a minute... Does it mean you working with HE Ruto is working against the President?" Bramwel Paul posed.
Kalonzo streseed that remarks by other individuals and political leaders that he had not affirmed himself could not be attributed to him.
His response followed a simmering tussle for the Ukambani vote especially after former Machakos Senator, Johnstone Muthama, a seniour member of the Wiper party, allegedly hinted at the formation of an alliance with the DP, reports that might have been misinterpreted into linking party leader Kalonzo in the theoretical alliance.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, a vocal critique of the former VP, on Wednesday, December 11 issued a statement hours after the media reports spread wide, faulting Muthama for what he described as selling out the people of Ukambani region.
"We want to categorically tell WIPER that our people are tired of being auctioned to the highest bidder, as pawn[s] for individuals and to enrich a few," Mutua stated in a Facebook post.
