Former Real House Helps of Kawangware (TRHK) actress Esther Chebet, who was popularly known as Matilda, has for the first time opened up on why she was forced to leave the show.
Chebet who spoke on Citizen TV, said that circumstances pressed her out of the show that aired on KTN at the time, and she went to her bosses and asked to have her role removed from the script.
She went on to say that she did not have a plan on what she was going to do after the Real House Helps, but she was sure that she wanted out of the comfort zone she was already in.
“Honestly, for Real House Helps circumstances pushed me. I was pushed, I didn’t have any plans on you know… but circumstances pushed me, so I just decided can you remove me from your script kidogo and that was that. And then I felt that I needed to get out of that comfort zone. I needed to explore and see what else I could do,” she narrated.
Opportunities
According to Chebet, who has now taken her art to Instagram and other social media platforms under the name (Star Chebet), there were many opportunities coming her way, but one could not multi-task with the busy shooting schedule at TRHK.
“Kuna opportunities mingi but for Real House helps, hungesema ati utafute kwingine kwanza ndio utoke, we used to shoot from Monday to Friday, that is if umewekwa kwa script vizuri so huwezi sema ati wacha ningoje ingine inaivana. No. ni toka tafuta ingine and if you feel your heart inasumbua wacha hio kitu something better is waiting, something better is out there for you,” said Matilda.
Esther Chebet made her TV debut on The Real House Helps of Kawangware (TRHK) while she was still a student at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication. She went on to put a good show with her character ‘Matilda’ for three years before she quit the show.
