Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa arrived at Mangororo Primary School in Ganze constituency to donate desks one day after photos of pupils sitting on bricks submerged in water circulated on social media sites.
Excitement was written all over faces of pupils when a truck loaded with at least 50 drove into the institution sending the entire school into wild celebration and ulalations on Friday, May 10.
The legislator also gave 100 bags of cement and 300 pieces of iron sheets to aid the upgrading of the school punctuated with dilapidated wobbly mud-walled classrooms.
Even though the school sits in Ganze constituency, Jumwa said she visited the learning centre upon invitation by area MP Teddy Mwambire.
The outspoken lawmaker rumoured to be eyeing Kilifi gubernatorial seat made a clarion call on well-wishers and donors to come out and support the school so that pupils may study in a serene environment.
"This afternoon I paid a courtesy call to Mangororo Primary School on invitation of the area MP Teddy Mwambire of Ganze Constituency where I donated 50 desks, 100 bags of cement and 300 pieces of iron sheet in aid of the school after photos of pupils sitting on bricks sub-merged in water went viral in social media yesterday," she said.
After the photos went viral, in the process igniting public rage, Mwambire acknowledged the situation and called for help saying National Government Constituency Development Funds (NG-CDF) allocated to his area was too little to aid revamping of over 20 schools in similar deplorable state.
