Defiant Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa will on Saturday yet again host Deputy President William Ruto amid ongoing battle to overturn expulsion by ODM party.
Dr Ruto has defended the second term legilator, accusing Raila Odinga of targeting her not because she has allied herself to his camp, but because she's a woman.
“You cannot keep saying you are in the business of uniting Kenyans yet you are expelling others from your political outfits and causing divisions in the country. Uniting Kenyans should not have any boundaries,” Ruto said when he visited Malindi last month.
National Governing Council of ODM expelled Ms Jumwa after she was found guilty of acting contrary to the party's constitution last month. Her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori was however spared despite also supporting Ruto.
On Friday, Jumwa who was given chance to apologise by Raila, announced Ruto's trip to her constituency, an indication that she may have after all cut links with the Orange party completely.
"Hallo Everyone,The Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya His Excellency Dr William Samoei Ruto will be in our Constituency tomorrow Saturday 6th April 2019, 2pm at Malindi Education office near DCC office for the official Opening of the Malindi Sub County Education Office. All are welcomed," said Jumwa.
Dr Ruto has intensified campaigns in the coastal strip, which has however traditionally backed Mr Odinga in decades. The Orange party enjoys huge following in Kilifi County and had all MPs elected on it's ticket including Jumwa.
According to ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, no party member is allowed to support other candidates because the party will also field a presidential candidate at the right time ahead of 2022.
