Likoni MP Mishi Mboko's brother Ali Juma has died following an alleged suicide.
Juma was among 50 doctors sponsored by the Kenyan government to study family medicine in Cuba following a deal between the two countries.
In a statement by the Ministry of Health seen by TUKO.co.ke, the family of the deceased was informed of the incident on Sunday, March 17.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party sent its condolences to Mboko's family.
The MP is the party deputy director of elections.
“Condolences to the family of Likoni MP and deputy director of elections Mishi Mboko following the death of her brother Dr Ali Hamso in Cuba where he had gone to pursue masters degree in medicine. We pray for God's fortitude in the family during this sad moment," said the Orange party in a tweet.
The sponsored medics have been on record decrying harsh living conditions and failure by the Kenyan government to provide them with the agreed stipend to meet their daily expenditure.

Majority of them were reportedly unable to afford a cup of tea due to its costly price of KSh 600 while a book that would cost KSh 30 in Kenya was costing KSh 800 in Cuba.
According to the agreement that saw them leave the country, they were to be paid a stipend of KSh 36,000 monthly.
However, complaints emerged over the failure by the government to be consistent in making payments of the allowances.
The Ministry of Health, however, asked them to remain calm as they plan to sort out their grievances.
