Fast-rising Kalenjin singer Olessos Melodies has opened up about being stabbed by her dancer cum roommate Shakira Kanaiza in the middle of the night on Tuesday.
Speaking to SDE, Olessos claimed that they were watching a movie before Kanaiza left their Kipsimo apartment in Eldoret at around 1 am.
Noticing that it was getting late, Olessos called Kanaiza 45 minutes later with a warning that the area was not particularly safe at that hour.
“Nikafunga mlango na nikamngoja. Akakuja akabisha kitu saa nane. Kuingia, nikamweleza next time ukitoka funga mlango kwa sababu tunaishi karibu na barabara. Akaniambia nimwache na maswali ya ujinga na ata anaweza niua. Ndio akachomoa hicho kisu alichokua nacho (She returned at around 2 pm but when I explained that it was not safe because we live next to the road she became agitated and whipped out a knife),” she narrated.
Kanaiza, according to Olessos, then lunged and stabbed her two times; on the shoulder and rib. In the process of trying to tried to wrestle the knife out of Kanaiza's hands, she received cuts on her hands.

Ni kama kulikua na gari hapo nje lilikua linamngoja hangeweza kwenda hayo masaa haraka hivyo (She wrestled me to the ground. I tried to snatch the knife but got wounded in the process. Unbeknown to me, she had already packed. She thus threw her bag out and fled. A car was probably on standby).”
She was rushed to the hospital by neighbours and the matter reported to Racecourse Police Station
"Hospitalini nilipata hayo majeraha hayakua deep sana. Jana nilikua bado in shock but saa hii nimepoa kidogo ( Upon examination, it was determined that the stab wounds were not deep, I am feeling better)."
A manhunt for the suspect is underway.
