This contradicted the lawyer's earlier claims that he accidentally shot his 29-year-old son on the chest while trying to adjust his licensed Glock pistol inside his car.
The report released by government pathologist Johansen Odour on Thursday, March 21, said the lawyer's son succumbed to chest injuries and bleeding inflicted by a gunshot from a low velocity firearm.
“The shot projection from the chest exiting at the back suggested that whoever shot him was standing outside the rear right back door of motor vehicle KCE 753B Toyota Axio which belongs to the father of deceased,” said the report.
The pathologist further stated the angle of the shooting according to the projection was 90 degrees indicating there was a possible confrontation before the trigger was pulled on the deceased.
The autopsy was done in the presence of the suspect's lawyer, Clifford Ombeta, officials from Directorate of Criminal Investigations, representatives from government chemists and the homicide team.
Detectives who raided the lawyer's Muthaiga house on Tuesday, March 19, recovered 471 rounds of ammunition, a shotgun and a pistol.
Detectives also recovered a one spent cartridge and bullet head from Nyakundi's car which has since been taken for further examinations.
Nyakundi, who had been detained at Muthaiga police station after the fatal shooting was on Sunday, March 17, rushed to Nairobi Hospital after developing shock symptoms.
