Twin children, (a boy and a girl) aged 1-year-and-9-months, have been admitted at Sunrise Children’s Home in Kabarnet, Baringo County after their father registered them to the facility, citing inability to provide for them.

Twenty seven-year-old Rashid Kipter, a resident of Kapkut Village in Baringo Central, differed with his wife, Irene Kebut, who he accuses of beating him up on Thursday morning before fleeing her matrimonial home.

Kipter says Kebut, 26, clobbered him over a “small issue”.

“Peace has never characterised my marriage. My wife recently battered and inflicted injuries on me before abandoning me and our children,” said the 27-year-old man.

Kipter reported the matter to the children’s authority in the area, who advised him to take the minors to Sunrise Children’s Home.

Kipter, who survives on menial jobs, says the frequent fights with his wife were as a result of him being financially broke.

“On several occasions, I was unable to bring food home. My wife hardly understands. So, a fight would, consequently, break out,” said Kipter.

The couple has been married for four years.

Baringo County director of children, Memuse Otchom, confirmed the incident.
