A man was on Wednesday arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi for allegedly defiling an 8-year-old girl.
The court was told that Ledama Sultan, who is a pilot by profession, committed the act on September 30, 2018 at South C estate in Lang’ata, Nairobi.
The accused denied the charges but Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot denied him bail after agreeing with the prosecution that the suspect could interfere with investigations as well as intimidate witnesses.
In opposing the suspect’s release, the prosecution told the court that the accused committed the act in the girl’s bedroom, leaving the child traumatised, hence, should not be released.
Further the prosecution told the court that the accused person is a flight risk and might abscond court owing to the nature of his job and the fact that he also holds US citizenship.
The case will be mentioned on the January 16, 2019.
