A father of three has received a stray dog's beating from irate villagers for allegedly marrying his own daughter a year after his wife dumped him.
The angry residents of Iburuko village in Kisii county caught the middle-aged man red handed engaging in an illicit and abominable sexual affair with the minor before they descended on him with kicks and rungus (bludgeons) and clobbered him like a rented mule.
Reports reaching us on Tuesday, January 15, indicated the man, identified as Ezekiel Ombui, decided to marry his own daughter, who dropped out of school in class seven, after the young girl's mother abandoned home never to be heard from again.
"You all know my wife dumped me over a year ago and left me with three children. I decided to marry my own daughter because I din't want to engage in fights with other people over dowry price," the man protested in his defense.
He was first caught in the incestuous act with one of his neighbours, Jared Ombasa, who had gone to borrow a farm tool.
Shocked by what he saw, Ombasa proceeded to alert other neighbours.
"I had gone to borrow a slasher from Ombui when I found him and his daughter who dropped school at class seven in bed having sex," Ombasa said.
Confirming the incident, Area Chief Simon Nguye said the man sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he is recuperating.
"Ombui's wife left home mysteriously leaving behind three kids. I am still shocked that Ombui decided to turn his own daughter to be his wife," Nguye said.
The chief promised the area residents the suspect would face the full force of the law once he recovers from the beating.
The incident comes at a time when the country is fighting to end the ever increasing cases of teen pregnancies.
A section of law makers had threatened to amend the Constitution to have men preying of younger girls castrated.
In a related incident, a woman in Central Kenya got married to her own son in a colourful wedding saying she had invested so much in her son and never wanted another woman to reap where she did not sow.
