It is a good thing when a man asks a woman for a hand in marriage but it is even noble if the man asks the woman's father for his daughter's hand in a lifetime union.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga's daughter Winnie seemed to justify this assertion if her recent reaction to a purported proposal is anything to go by.
Sammy Gunga from Mombasa, most likely soaked in love which knows no barriers, tweeted to Raila expressing how he adored him and even requested the Opposition leader to allow him marry his last born daughter.
"For the love I have for you Baba, please allow me to marry your daughter Winnie," he said in the tweet.
Winnie, popularly referred to as Kazi within family and friends' circles torn between accommodating Gunga's gesture and laughing him off.
From the tweet which to some extent looked vague, it was not clear if the man wanted to marry her because he loved his father or because he loved her.
Asked by another tweep if she had given in to the bold request, Winnie wittingly said she would make the decision after her mother confirmed the dowry being offered was worthy her precious daughter.
I met and proposed to my wife in one day. She thought I was crazy. I had gone to visit my brother who was working at a medical school when I saw the beautiful lady. I invited her for dinner and told her I wanted to marry her ~ @bantigito— Rein (@Asamoh_) March 14, 2019
Kazi hinted that academic credentials were also a parameter for a potential groom in her Luo culture.
Gunga's hopes received a beam, however, after some people offered to support him raise the required dowry sum.
