Controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has indicated that President Uhuru Kenyatta may soon face impeachment.
Through his weekly show The 5th Estate, Mutahi revealed that after conducting an opinion poll on Twitter, Uhuru scored an all-time low with 14% approval rate.
Given that 67% of the 18,000 who took part in the poll did not support Uhuru's presidency, the political analyst concluded that the situation is likely to get worse in the future culminating to an impeachment motion against the President.
"The question is not whether the impeachment will happen. It is not a question of whether the impeachment will happen, the question is when it will happen," the columnist stated.
Mutahi further opined that given that the "country is clinically confused", it is upon Uhuru to shine a light and lead the way.
"Constitutional change will be part of Uhuru's legacy. This will happen either by design or by an act of God," he stated.
In his view, although some of Uhuru's decisions may be unpopular with the electorate, it is necessary for him to do what he has to do as per the Constitutional mandate of his office.
"If the crowds have turned against him, it is because he has no grace," he added.
However, Mutahi indicated that at his lowest point, Uhuru has the best chance to turn the fortunes for his legacy and the country.
"Justice is for rich, the law is for the poor. By giving justice to the rich and law to the poor, you ferment revolution," he concluded.
In this view, Mutahi expressed concern that feelings of betrayal were likely to precipitate more trouble for Uhuru's leadership.
