Mithika Linturi is the parliamentarian in the spotlight this week. Why? His recent wrangles with his wife Marianne Kitany that have seen the two embroiled in a fierce court battle.

Milimani Commercial Court senior resident magistrate Orenge ordered:
THE SENATOR IS RESTRAINED FROM PHYSICALLY OR SEXUALLY ABUSING OR THREATENING TO ABUSE THE APPLICANT, THE APPLICANT’S STAFF, THEIR SIX CHILDREN AND ANY OTHER PERSON ASSOCIATED WITH THE APPLICANT.
This was after Kitany claimed her husband had threatened to kill her with a pistol in a domestic brawl at their Runda home two weeks ago. The order granted exclusive occupation of the couple’s shared residence in Runda to Kitany.

What went wrong for the two who had been married for the past 5 years? According to reports carried in the Nairobian, the issue at the heart of the matter was money-related.
According to reports appearing in the Nairobian, Kitany the once powerful official in the office of the Deputy President oversaw a complete makeover of the former Igembe South MP’s rural Amwamba village home when they started seeing each other.

The finished product was a beautiful new bungalow that is outstanding for its wide windows. And to show the strength of the union Linturi moved from his Kileleshwa house to Kitany’s home in Runda.
The two also started a construction company called Atticon Ltd in March 2017, which was awarded a hefty Sh1.2 billion tender to construct three roads in Meru.
More money more problems they say.
In October this year according to reports found in the Nairobian, things started falling apart. Kitany said in a statement to police on October 30, that she had discovered that the directorship of a firm in which she had interests in had been changed.
They were now allegedly in the names of Linturi and an assistant of his. The company allegedly owns 3 parcels of land worth millions of shillings in Nairobi suburbs.

The information the police gathered from a search at the Registrar of Companies on October 1 revealed that the firm she spoke off had four directors, including Linturi. A detective explained:
SHE (KITANY) TOLD POLICE THAT THE THREE PARCELS OF LAND HAD BEEN CHARGED TO A LOCAL BANK AND THAT SHE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF DISCHARGING THEM. SHE FEARS THE SENATOR MAY HAVE WANTED TO HAVE ABSOLUTE CONTROL OVER THE PROPERTY.
Sources who spoke to the Nairobian said this business disagreement might have caused the marriage to hit this rocky patch.
