Tanzanian musician Harmonize says he’ll continue holding shows in Kenya despite falling out with Kenyan promoters over pay early this month.
Harmonize was slated to perform in Eldoret on November 3, but he did not show up for the show, saying the Kenyan promoters, who had contracted him, had not met their side of the bargain.
The musician alleged he had received partial payment, and not full payment, as they had agreed.
Harmonize said it did not make sense why the promoters were withholding a significant part of his pay.
And to express his disappointment, the singer failed to show up for the show, which revelers had parted with nearly Ksh2, 000 each.
His no-show caused chaos at Eldoret Sports Club, where the event was held, with party-goers demanding a refund for being “duped”.
And now, Harmonize says despite falling out with a section of the promoters, he hasn’t shut performance calls in Kenya.
“I will only perform in Kenya if the promoters are ready to work, and are ready to bring me on board. Kenya is one of the countries where I enjoy a large fanbase. I, therefore, can’t say I will stop performing in the country. I, however, say it depends on how the promoters will approach our agreement,” Harmonize, who is in Kenya, told BBC Swahili Thursday.
“Away from that, I’ll headline a show in Mombasa penciled in for December. I want to continue working with the Kenyan people,” said Harmonize.
