
Police have taken the knife suspected to have been used by suspect, Joe Irungu, to kill Monica Kimani, for forensic tests to determine if it is the weapon used on the fateful night.
The knife, allegedly belonging to Jacque Maribe was used to slit Monica Kimani’s throat was an ordinary kitchen knife but found to be extra sharp.
Forensic tests showed that Joe “Jowie” Irungu was the main suspect behind the killing of Monica Kimani as the semen found on the slain Monica and samples from her nails came back 99.9 percent as Joe’s DNA.
The bloodstained fingerprints on Monica’s body and fingerprints on the tape and ropes used to bind Monica also came back 99.9 percent as Joe Irungu’s.
Police are also looking for a man captured on camera to be in a car alongside Joe on the fateful night.
Joe has been positively identified by four witnesses as the man who left Monica’s apartment in a white Kanzu.
He is set to be charged for murder and attempted suicide.
