Citizen TV news anchor Yvonne Okwara Matole is mourning the death of her brother Albert Okwara.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Okwara announced that her brother passed on and his death had left her heart broken.
“I've lost my beloved brother! A few years ago, I gained the courage to speak about his disability and our family's long journey with him. So many of you reached out to me and were kind and empathetic! I thank you. My journey with Albert Okwara is now over, at least in this realm. He left us as peacefully and as quietly as he lived his entire life. My heart is broken, but my memories are full. Goodbye my beloved Albert! Fly with the angels....” she wrote.
Albert’s death comes a few years after the screen siren opened up to the public that she had an elder brother who was deaf and blind.
She added that his disability made some of their friends walk out of their lives, while some people said they had brought a curse to their entire community.
Ms. Okwara said that she never liked to talk about her then 50 year-old brother’s disability because all she got in return was pity, shame and endless questions about religion, traditional curses and she ended up in isolation.
She however said she decided to open up because she hoped her story would help people out there.
