Citizen TV has expressed support for its embattled employee Jacque Maribe who is implicated in the murder of the slain Monica Kimani.
The broadcaster’s Group Managing Director Wachira Waruru stated that the news anchor and reporter has been a diligent individual with a clean record.
According to a report by Capital FM, the director further added that Maribe is an exceptional performer who has worked hard to climb up the ranks as she has.
“Having engaged her for the last six years, and assessing her performance, we hereby vouch for her character and recommend for her admission to bail,” Waruru stated.
He also recounted her hard work stating that she joined the company as a reporter and worked hard to earn a news anchor title through successfully carrying out both national and international tasks assigned to her.
The media house also revealed that Maribe was still its employee out on leave to take care of her personal issues.
The journalist, together with her fiancé Jowie Irungu, applied for bail in connection to the murder of Monica Kimani and are waiting a ruling slated for Tuesday next week.
On Wednesday, the prosecution asked Justice James Wakiaga to keep her off-screen claiming that it would intimidate the witnesses in her case.
The judge, however, noted that Maribe’s case was a tricky one because if he carried on with the recommendation, it would mean the end of employment for her.
For Jowie, the prosecution claimed that his international stints proved that he is a flight risk and that he might try to commit suicide again.
