Jacque Maribe’s case has been the biggest story in Kenya this past month. It even made us forget about the awesome tax burden that the government placed on us Kenyans. The one we agitated and begged for. Thank you gava!

But I digress. One thing that the Jacque’s trial has shown is that good friends have your back when you are knee-deep in shit. Like the pile below.

Jacque’s friends have come to court in droves from the likes of Terryanne Chebet, Francis Gachuri, Kambua, Kirigo Ng’arua, Monica Kiragu, Muthoni Wa Mukiri, Shix Kapeinga, Moses Kuria, Oliver Mathenge and legendary poet Dennis Itumbi.

But one person who has been conspicuously absent is her former lover and rumoured baby daddy to her son Zahari, Eric Omondi.

He sent a somewhat controversial and much-maligned message in support of her on his Instagram page.

But for people who shared such an intimate relationship in the past, why hasn’t his support being more open like the above-listed friends? We called him for a comment. His response was:
WHEN THIS JACQUE MARIBE AFFAIR ENDS I WILL GIVE YOU AN INTERVIEW FOR THIS PARTICULAR STORY.
That is a truncated answer of what he said. But because we are smart guessers as tabloid writers usually are(pats myself on the back) we can theorize about why Eric might not have been seen visiting Jacque in public.
The theories are below:
He doesn’t want to mess his relationship with his fiancee
Eric is going to Marry his point 5 fiancee’, Chantal next and we all know how fragile relationships that involve public personalities can be. Eric is just being mindful of that.

He does not want to feed the baby daddy rumours
The stories about him being Jacque’s baby daddy intensified after Jacque’s legal trouble’s started. He may see that associating himself publicly with her as a move that will fuel those rumours.

As a signal that he has moved on
Famed poet and wordsmith Dennis Itumbi has already been lampooned by many Kenyans for his messages in support of Jacque.
Some have alluded to him being still in love with Ms. Maribe.

Eric might not want to suffer the same fate. Ama? What do you think?
