On Wednesday Migori Governor Okoth Obado was released on a cash bail of Sh5 million with two sureties of the same amount.
However, high court Judge Jessie Lesiit set tough conditions for the Governor.
Obado was directed to submit all his travel documents to court to ensure hat he doesn't leave the country during this period.
The court also restrained him from going anywhere near the murder scene; that is the border of Migori and Homa Bay counties.
“The accused shall not go anywhere within 20km of Homa Bay-Migori boundary and the court has the liberty to cancel your bail at any time,” said Justice Lessit.
Obado’s co-accused Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero were denied bail. Judge Lesiit ruled that the release of Oyamo and Obiero would cause fear and anxiety among members of the public.
She also cited security concerns as part of the reasons why the two would remain at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.
Governor Obado has been in custody at the Industrial Area Remand Prison since his arrest on September 21 in connection with the murder of pregnant Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
The late Sharon was laid to rest on October 19.
