A police chase ended tragically when a lorry rammed into a boda-boda rider who was trying to evade arrest in Murang'a county.
The accident occurred at Kangari in Kigumo with witnesses reporting that the rider met his death after a failed bribery attempt.
The deceased, who is yet to be identified, was reportedly flagged down by the traffic officers and he tried to bribe them with Ksh50 which was turned down.
Upon rejection, he sped off prompting the police to initiate a hot pursuit in their Toyota Fielder.
Unfortunately, the boda-boda rider rammed into a canter lorry whose driver lost control trying to avoid a collision with the Fielder.
The lorry overturned and landed on the rider, killing him instantly.
The scene attracted tens of onlookers as residents rushed to the scene looking to rescue casualties.
The fielder was also badly damaged in the incident though there were no reports on the condition of the police officers who were in the car.
Residents blocked the roads in protest disrupting activities in the town.
