Catherine Muthoni died a long time ago. Videos have been circulating showing her embracing and laughing heartily with President Kenyatta in a function many have mistaken for Moi’s send-off in Kabarak.
The late elderly woman was a sister to Joseph Kamaru, a popular fallen Benga music artist. She stole everyone’s attention at the event when she from nowhere engaged President Kenyatta playfully, the chemistry between them amazing the attendees of the function believed to be Kamaru’s funeral service.
Until the video, a few have actually known that the woman died a long time ago. The video began doing rounds on social media during the time when Moi was being laid to rest, many thus believing the 30 seconds clip had been taken at Kabarak University grounds on Wednesday.
The video roots back to October 2018 when Kamaru died, President Kenyatta attending his funeral, where he met Catherine ‘Celina’ Muthoni and began rekindling the good times they had together back in the day.

Muthoni, also known as Celina, died at 68 on November 5, 2019, at her home in Nakuru County. She had been diagnosed with some sort of stroke and died after her condition had worsened. She was later buried at her native home in Embu County.
The woman is believed to have known the president way back when he was a toddler, at the time being known to the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
In the above video, it was the first time Celina reunites with Uhuru after more than 50 years, thus the excitement.
