K24 news anchor Anjlee Gandhvi has died on Friday after fighting a long battle with cancer since 2014.
Her battle with an aggressive form of cancer in her liver saw Anjlee seek treatment in India. She underwent surgery for a liver transplant from a compatible donor as chemotherapy was not able to fight off the aggressive cancer cells.
The surgery was conducted in 2016 and was later confirmed to be cancer-free. Anjlee, however, went back to India in 2019 for two weeks to seek Cyberknife treatment; a full robotic radiation that treats cancerous and non-cancerous tumours.
Before leaving the country, she shared a video of herself and her then 5-year-old daughter talk. Anjlee was explaining to her why she needed to be out of the country for two weeks.
In her tweet, she explained why it was difficult to explain to her child why she had to leave the country. Her daughter, in the emotional video, doesn’t want her to leave and tells her mother that she will miss her.
Anjlee assures her in the video that she would return back feeling better than ever. The two embrace each other through the emotional two-minute video.
