Former Ishukha Central (Kakamega County) MCA, Richard Muchesia,42, on Tuesday night, killed his wife, Florence Okwach, then turned the gun on himself.
The incident happened in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.
The ex-ward rep's brother revealed that suspicion that she was cheating on him with one of her bosses at work might have been the trigger of the incident.
Florence, 37, worked as a nurse at one of the hospitals in Kajiado County.
The ex-MCA’s brother stated that Florence and Muchesia, who are parents to two young children, a boy and a girl, were married for 13 years.
Muchesia is survived by his second wife, an Administration Police officer, and the two children he got with Florence.
The ex-MCA’s family says they have begun plans to transport the pair’s bodies to Kakamega for burial.
Muchesia represented the ward after he won the seat in the 2013 General Election but lost in 2017 when he vied for MP in Shinyalu.
Detectives are still investigating the possible reasons for the act.
This comes a day after a woman in Thome Estate in Roysambu, Nairobi, wiped out her entire family before committing suicide.
It is alleged that the woman used an axe on her husband, who is believed to have been sleeping.
She then turned to her two children, strangled both of them, leaving one on the couch and another on the bed.
The children were aged and three and 14.
According to a police report, she then hanged herself with a rope inside the house.
Kasarani police are investigating whether there was any other party involved in the Thome incident.
