Fashion designer, famously known as Shiyenze Khasoha, was on Tuesday put on the spot by a blogger who claimed that she faked her cancer claims for sympathy to raise over Ksh2 million.
Shiyenze had graced several media outlets narrating her cancer story and previously launched a campaign dubbed vaashiyenze, in a bid to raise funds for her treatment.
The designer previously dressed iconic personalities such as Larry Madowo, Jeff Koinange, Nameless, Gilad Millo, Jalang'o, Shafie Weru, Adele Onyango and Big Ted.
However, the businesswoman has come out to defend herself against the allegations which saw netizen bash her on social media.
Her lawyer, Charles Madowo, who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, sought to clear Shiyenze's name, ruling out the allegations and terming them as false.
Madowo confirmed that the designer is currently in Kijabe hospital undergoing treatment and was also set for further treatment at Aga Khan hospital on Friday.
An article which claimed that her cancer story was faked cited various inconsistencies including that of receiving treatment at MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi, whereas she had never any such form treatment there.
Madowo, however, differed with the accusations stating that it was impossible for one to walk into a hospital and demand for a patient's information.
"And if MP Shah was to give them medical records of somebody, then that would be absolute negligence, " declared Madowo.
The lawyer also clarified that they had not received any call from Parklands Police Station, where Shiyenze's case was supposedly reported under the OB NO 62 of 8/07/2019.
He further went ahead to accuse Philip Oketch Ouma, who was part of Shiyenze's fundraising team, as the person behind the slander.
In conclusion, Madowo promised to pursue legal action against Ouma.
"For now, Shiyenze is unwell and unable to give proper instructions but definitely, these are defamatory and unlawful statements that attract legal sanctions," disclosed Madowo.
"So once Shiyenze is back to her feet, we'll definitely advise her to institute legal proceedings," he concluded.
