No casualties were reported from the incident, however, residents affected by the fire have appealed for help to reconstruct their structures.
Foul play
The fire incident has reignited debates on suspected foul play by land grabbers that has been associated with some city fires.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is among a number of politicians who have advanced the theory, asking authorities to take action.
"...there are land grabbers who upon seeing an open field start salivating, I am certain it is them who are behind this so that tomorrow they start constructing structures here under tight security, we shall not accept our people to be chased like dogs from where they earn a living," he stated after a recent fire at Toi Market, which borders the Kibera slums.
