Armed goons attacked a bus driver and passengers along the newly tarmacked Kajiado-Mashuuru road on Monday morning.
A group of rowdy youth armed with rungus and other crude weapons ascended on the bus and smashed the vehicle's windows as they harassed the passengers.
Some of the passengers lost their property during the commotion.
The bus driver, Patrick Mulinge, is fighting for his life at the Mashuuru County Hospital after suffering multiple head injuries from the raid.
Deputy County Commissioner, Steve Nyakundi stated that the raid might have been orchestrated by rival matatu operators who have protested the operation of new vehicles in the area.
"The Mashuuru matatu operators, the ones who have probox vehicles, its like they do not want any other operators to come to this route.
"This is a new route and it is open to the public, anybody is free to operate and do the business," Nyakundi stated.
Nyakundi added that investigations were ongoing and five people were already in custody.
