Malindi Member of Parliament (MP), Aisha Jumwa, was on the receiving end of serious reprisals from Kenyans on Sunday night after a video of her went viral.
In the video, Jumwa is seen belting out a corrupted version of the popular Christian song hakuna wa kufanana na wewe in praise of Deputy President (DP) William Ruto.
This did not go down well with netizens, especially the Christian faithful who stated that her actions were nothing short of blasphemy.
"It is now clear that the Kenyan Church has a god to worship because of money, they have replaced the one true God for Ruto," Caleb Simba posted.
According to netizens the fact that Jumwa was addressing worshippers at St. Jude Muanda Catholic Church, Bumula Constituency, Bungoma County made matters even worse.
"Politicians! Are the church members also singing with her? Who's bewitching these church members? Money?" Albert Isaboke remarked.
The vocal Malindi MP had joined DP Ruto for a church service at the church where she went on to demand Matiang'i's resignation over the recent gold scam saga.
However, it was her remixed version of a popular Christian worship song which places DP Ruto in an almost God-like pedestal that resounded across the nation.
"It's an abomination to worship any human being, she is hungry of getting easy money but the Almighty God is a jealous God and he can't share his Glory with anybody," Abraham Madegwa posted.
Majority of the netizens felt that Jumwa was joking with God and her desecration of a song meant for worship would come back and bite them in the end.
Here is the clip of Jumwa that has irritated so many netizens as well as a few screenshots of some reactions:
