Police on Monday evening arrested Muranga county MCA Peter Mburu Muthoni for making a false document and allegedly defrauding a woman Sh3 million.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested the Kagunduini Ward Representative after he told his victim that he could offer her a tender to supply ballast to a Chinese company.
Police said the suspect together with others had introduced themselves as an ‘Engineer’ and a ‘senior staff’ at the Chinese company and forged an agreement for the supply of ballast and in the process defrauded the victim the said amount.
Police only managed to arrest the MCA and he will be arraigned in court on Tuesday as they pursue his accomplices.
The latest arrest comes a day after detectives in Mombasa placed two MCAs on their radar over their alleged links with criminal gangs in the county.
The two are suspected to be involved in the operations of ‘Wakali Kwanza’ and ‘Wajukuu wa Bibi’ gangs in Kisauni and Likoni.
