Comedian JB Masanduku is expected to complete paying the dowry for his fiancée Jackie Karanja in August this year after years of being single.
Speaking to Word Is JB says
I have already done the first part of the dowry payment to her parents, in Kikuyu called ‘Kuhada Ithigi’, which happened on January 5th this year at Jackie’s home in Wangige.
The ceremony was so that he could meet the parents and book a day to officially present the dowry, which has been confirmed to be in August.
The two met a year ago at Mist Club in town, where Jackie was hosting Karaoke. JB says for him it was love at first sight.
It was love at first sight because when I looked at her, I knew she was the one and definitely she is a nice lady.
The comedian refuted claims his fiancée is expectant, as reported last week.
I don’t know where they got the information from because she’s not pregnant. We are working on it though.
Masanduku was married to former Classic 105 radio host Tina Kagia whom he engaged 11 days after they met.
Speaking in a past interview about it Masanduku said
We started dating as a joke, and even wrote on social media. We received backlash, of course, and finally we said we needed to make everything official.
We went to her parents and held our wedding [in October, 2013], despite Tina being seven years older than me,” said Masanduku.
Masanduku and Tina’s wedding vows were exchanged at the Attorney General’s chambers. A few family members and friends attended the function.
We spent three years in marriage and got two children together, but our marriage did not work.
I am legally divorced, although at first we had agreed to do it privately without involving the court and the public. Then one day, I received a call from people asking to give me some job as an MC, which I agreed.
They tricked into meeting them so that I could sign papers for the job. When I met the person, I found out it was her Ms Kagia’s lawyer and a police officer. They served me with the divorce letter.
The divorce was later granted after I had attended several mentions,” said Masanduku.
