Diamond Platnumz and his father, Abdul Juma finally embraced. Where? The long-awaited and anticipated re-union happened at the Wasafi FM offices.
The two who have been estranged for more than 20 years, exchanged hugs. The initial hug looked awkward and forced as one would expect for two estranged people with a complicated past.
The presenters asked Diamond how his relationship with his father was at the moment, especially after all the stories that have been circulating online about the two.
He responded by saying that the media had stoked the fires between him and his father. That he also did not know why his parents had separated but he still respected his parents.
He said that after recent events like his father asking for help from him, his sister, Darleen had spoken to him about helping his father. He said that when he had an opportunity to do so, he does.
He also explained that he had already started the process of trying to help his father with his medical condition, something his father said he was still waiting for.
Baba Diamond said that he had not seen his son for a ‘long time’, and the last time he had was when he was still together with Diamond’s mother.
He even added that Wema Sepetu, one of the singer’s many exes had been a vocal supporter of Baba Chibu.
When asked about what he thought of his son’s success, Abdul said that he is happy that his son had become that successful. He also said that he wanted his son to get even more successful and to finally settle down with one woman.
And why did he ask his son for forgiveness? He replied that although a parent should not ask a child for forgiveness, he wanted a clean slate with his son.
Abdul also said that he was happy his son was an upstanding member of society. Diamond summarised his relationship with his father by saying that he should be wary of the way the media had manipulated him and to watch out for them.
The ‘African Beauty’ crooner also hoped that the two could get closer as father and son in the future.
