Residents of Mubwayo in Busia county are still reeling in shock after a religious leader left his home to an island in Lake Victoria to avoid being registered to Huduma Namba.
Pastor Peter Lugehe of Reformed SDA and his followers claimed the countrywide biometric registration was satanic that Kenyans should stay away from.
Speaking to NTV, the man of God disclosed he has bid his family good bye after selling his earthly possessions ready for whatever will befall him.
"I do not know what Huduma Namba is. I spread the word of God. Even if you take me to Uhuru I will tell him I am not ready to register. I have sold my property and left my family. Either I will be charged or not. The likes of St Peter (in Bible) were arraigned," he said.
This comes in the wake of claims by some churches and individuals that Huduma Namba is satanic claiming it reflected the demonic 666 number highlighted in the Bible.
Also known as National Integrated Identity Management System, Huduma Namba is government web-based data management solution which collects data and stores particulars of Kenyans.
Despite key national figures embracing it, the registration has been low key in major parts of Kenya with available statistics up to 66% of Kenyans are not yet registered.
