A Kenyan woman will serve seven years in jail after it was established that she faked her pregnancy.
According to reports, the woman, Ann Mungwele Josephat, faked the pregnancy in order to steal a four-month-old baby.
In a dramatic turn of events, Mungwele separated with her husband after he discovered she had faked labour pains and that she was not pregnant.
The distressed woman then sought refuge in a house of another woman, Celestine Ikambili Shikulu, in Jacaranda estate, Nairobi.

According to court witnesses, Mungwele then timed when Shikulu was away before stealing her baby on February 24.
The suspect then fled to her home in Kitui County and told her parents that she had just delivered the baby.
No for long, however, the baby developed complications and later passed on.
Detectives then traced the treacherous woman to her home and arrested her.
A postmortem revealed that the baby had succumbed to pneumonia.
Mungwele pleaded guilty and was handed the seven years jail term.
