The Flying Squad unit reportedly discovered a safe containing Ksh17 billion in fake currency at Barclays Bank, Queens way branch in Nairobi.
A statement released by K24 revealed that a Tuesday raid at the branch located along Mama Ngina street led to the discovery of the large consignment of fake currency
“Flying Squad discover a safe containing Ksh17 billion fake currency at Barclays Bank, Queens way branch,” stated K24.
According to reports from Daily Nation, the security authorities were camped at the bank in a bid to uncover a fake currency syndicate.
“Flying Squad and DCI officers camp at Barclays Bank Kenya, Queensway branch, Nairobi; sources say team investigating fake currency syndicate,” nation revealed.
However, speaking to Barclays bank Queens branch, Kenyans.co.ke could not affirm the actual amount as the bank declined to confirm owing to the sensitivity of the issue.
