Several people are feared dead after an Ethiopian Airlines plane crashed enroute to Nairobi.
According to a statement released by Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s office, the accident happened on Sunday morning.
The plane had 149 passengers and 8 crew on board at the time of the crash.
The statement read in part that “The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express it’s deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning.”
Flight ET 302/10 which took off at 8:38 AM crashed around Bishoftu area (Debre Zeit).
The statement further reveals that the aircraft B-737-800 MAX which left Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa lost contact with the control room at around 8:44 AM.
