
The crash involved a Nairobi-bound Boeing taking off from Adis Ababa, killing all 157 people on board. The victims included Eight crew members and 149 passengers from 35 countries who all perished when Flight ET 302 ploughed into a field near Tulu Fara village outside the town of Bishoftu, some 60 kilometres (40 miles) southeast of Addis Ababa.

Family and friends of the victims flew to Addis Ababa to identify the bodies of their loved ones. They were received by Transport PS Esther Koimett and embassy staff, led by ambassador Catherine Mwangi. They booked into hotels in the Ethiopian capital.
