The parents of Judy Wangui, the woman suspected to have murdered her lover's wife have spoken up for the first time.
Her ailing mother Jane Wairimu addressed journalist at her home in Gikure Village in Gatundu South, Kiambu County where she described Wangui as a God-fearing woman.
Ms Wairimu stated that her daughter frequented home to take care of her with basic upkeep items and medication.
Speaking on the murder of Mary Wambui Kamangara, Ms Wairimu said that she was at a loss to explain how her daughter would do such a thing.
Mother's take
“My daughter is incapable of hurting anyone as she was brought up in a Christian way,” Wangui's mother stated.
Wangui’s family says she attended Gikure Primary School but did not go beyond Standard Eight.
That contradicts earlier reports from her friends who claimed she had dropped out of an IT-related university course in the second year.
Wangui lived a normal life where she earned a living hawking boiled eggs, smokies and tea at a car wash in Thindigua.
Humble beginnings
She also cleaned muddy shoes for clients who came to the car wash before she opened a wines and spirits shop targeting motorists who came to the car wash.
While operating her business at the car wash, Wangui is said to have met Joseph Kori who turned her fortunes around.
Kori is said to have moved Wangui from Thindigua to Fourways Junction, a gated community in the suburbs of Kiambu.
Wangui was introduced to the good life as Kori took her exotic tour in Asia with evidence of this posted on her Facebook account.
Murder most foul
A week before the heinous murder of Ms Wambui, Wangui is said to have taken her son to live with her mother in the village where she enrolled him in a local private school.
Her family did not make much of the action as Wangui had promised her mother she would relocate her from their rural home so that she can take better care of her.
Ms Mungai was arrested two weeks ago in connection with Ms Kamangara’s murder at Four Ways Junction Estate along Kiambu Road where she lived.
Mr Kori and car-hire businessman Michael Githae Mathenge are also in custody are expected to be charged with murder today except for Mr Kori whose involvement detectives are yet to determine.
