Members of Soweto self-held group based in Donholm phase 8 are planning a demonstration against the managing director of the cooperative bank over a disputed piece of land located in embakasi Thursday.
In a statement the groups Organizing secretary , Sowesava Self Help group, Patrobas Owino,says following a meetimg held on Saturday 23 rd February the group members resolved to hold the demonstration and present petitions to Nairobi county Governor Mike sonko, chief justice David Maraga and Embakasi west member of parliament Babu Owino.
The demonstrations are set to commence at Nairobi’s Uhuru park followed by a procession into the CBD and eventually ending at cooperative Bank headquarters along Haile Selassie avenue where the group members intend to hand over a petition to the banks CEO Gideon Muriuki.
Members of the group plan to hold can international press conference at the KICC Later on after complaining that their grievances have been largely been ignored by local media.
Mr. Muriuki is accused by group members of grabbing the squatters’ piece of land that houses hundreds of family members.
The Notice to hold what they termed as a peaceful procession has been copied to Gideon Muriuki – cooperative Bank, OCS central police and the chief Embakasi south.
