Recent details have emerged showing that one of the seven suspects arrested for mimicking President Uhuru Kenyatta and swindling Ksh10 million from Sameer Africa Chairman Naushad Merali might have had initial contact with the president, DP William Ruto, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, and Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa.
The individual known as Isaac Wanjekeche Wanyonyi, alias Porcupine seems to be well connected in the top political spheres of the country.
In one of the images, a person who appears to be Wanyonyi is pictured engaging in the famous "Tuko Pamoja" handshake (mostly used by Jubilee supporters) with President Kenyatta.
It, hence, comes as a surprise to many Kenyans that such an individual would engage in the heinous crime of getting him arraigned in court as a conman operating unlawfully in the president's name.
The Facebook account of the individual also has several of his pictures showing him spending time in the official quarters of CS Wamalwa.
It is also surprising to note that Wanjekhe, at some point, responded to the press on behalf of Wamalwa.
The individual, whose photo highly resembles that released by the DCI, also has pictures of close up moments with DP Ruto and the current Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka.
Reports claim that in one of the photos, Lusaka had accompanied the suspect to the funeral of his mother in 2018 in the company of several legislators.
“Earlier today, I joined mourners in Tongaren, Bungoma County in sending off the late Bernadette Wanyonyi - mother to my friend Isaac Wanjekeche. May she rest in eternal peace,” Lusaka had indicated soon after attending the funeral.
It is not clear whether the suspect, who is now branded as one of president Uhuru's impostors, still had close contacts or ties to the leaders at the time of his arrest.
