Interior Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, chaired first full Cabinet yesterday AS Chief Minister where he put other CSs on notice.
Lecturing the CSs, the no nonsense Matiang’i warned them of dire consequences if found engaged in corruption or overseeing corruption in their ministries.
He also warned them of tenders in their ministries, saying he will expose those flouting tender rules to pocket millions of public money.
At the same time, Matiang’i decries the stalled Government projects, giving the contractors only 90 days to complete projects or go to jail.
“The meeting focused on two issues. Massive sweep on contractors and projects where application for contract variations are the reasons for stalling,” said a source privy to the meeting.
The yesterday’s meeting was the first full meeting of the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee since President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Matiang’i to head the team with Treasury CS, Henry Rotich, as his deputy.
