A Probox driver attempted something very few would dare as he took to attack a police officer who was escorting him to the station.
The Kisumu-based driver was arrested for one of the most common traffic offences known to the notorious Toyota Probox – ferrying excess passengers.
In a police report seen by TUKO.co.ke, the driver is reported to have been nabbed at a police check with his car carrying eight passengers instead of the standard five.
Initially, the driver was asked by officers to exit the vehicle but his consistent defiance forced one of the officers to literally take the wheel and escort him to the station using the probox, registration number KCA 712A.
By then, the unscrupulous passengers had quietly fled the scene, leaving the driver with the officer in the vehicle.
The driver must have seen a window of opportunity since he was alone with the officer identified as Police Constable Yusuf Hussein, and he decided to take his chances by launching an attack.
There was only going to be one result with a driver and passenger engaging in a fight inside a moving vehicle as the probox lost control and landed in a ditch.
While there were no fatalities, the vehicle was left badly damaged and the officer and rogue driver sustained minor injuries
